Phantasmagoria

Interactive installation
2005

Phantasmagoria is an interactive installation created for a moving vehicle, in which the concept of image and simulation are put on display. The project title refers to techniques that were used in the eighteenth century to create visual illusions that resembled ghosts, used in theatrical acts and spiritualistic seances. The installation consists of a virtual character who reacts to the actions of the passengers of the vehicle. The piece works through a series of pre-recorded video sequences, which are triggered through a system that interprets the actions of passengers through an array of motion sensors and microphones.
