Observation Point

Interactive installation
2011

Observation point is an installation that questions the issue of surveillance into the virtual environment. The piece consists of a data visualization generated through the Carnivore software, which can track Internet traffic within a local network. Each connection within the network, translates inside a map to an origin and a destination point. All tracking information is stored in a database, allowing you to explore through the installation’s interface the content sent and received on each connection. The interface consists of a touch surface developed expressly for the project, using computer vision technologies, and gestures analysis.

In technical terms, the data visualization is made with Processing, while the interface uses OpenCV in conjunction with OpenFrameworks.
